it's been a busy week (or 2 or 3...). seems like everyone is taking a little break from posting so much...spring weather?

i like these lamps from establishment.


they remind me of rock salt lamps. which i looove...(despite their new age appeal...or maybe in spite of??).

some store displays at my local anthropologie. fish bowls with plants hanging in market bags and thread "drawings". they have such beautiful displays every month. couldn't resist these....

just a quickie. tara donovan's work is too beautiful and clever not to post. drinking straws and fishing line?...wow.

a rainy monday brings a happy package from kelly, my beautiful use swap partner. inside i found a coffee for one coffee/tea press (straight from my wishlist!), a honey dipper and muji handkerchiefs. one of the patterns matches some jonathan adler napkins i bought years ago. happy accident, non? see all of the swaps here.

i've never been a big fan of patchwork blankets, but recently i can't stop thinking about them. after seeing this on skona life i've been kind of obsessed. i'm slowly working my way towards a knitted version but i've always thought thrifted sweaters would make an exceptionally cozy blanket as well. i love this patchwork quilt by mes textiles (via lena).

saw the richard avedon show at the cantor arts center this weekend. was lucky enough to follow around a tour group and hear tidbits of the stories behind the portraits.

in the first 2 rooms of the museum they have a small exhibit of pieces from the stanford's own collection, including a variety of animals that their son collected. i'm not one for dead animals on the walls or in cases but the owl was really really beautiful...

wow. anthropologie has done it again. anyone else see the josef wingback chair? funny, this was my very first post...

sagmeister inc. is a graphic design company in ny. they have a wide range of printed designs but my favorite by far is the work they've done with designer anni kuan for her fashion brochures. it's clever, witty, beautiful to look at and incredibly resourceful. i'm most impressed with the way they managed to create such fantastic product with a tight budget...

i went to the de young a while back to catch the gee's bend and ruth asawa exhibits. the gee's bend catalogue was sold out and for some silly reason i didn't buy the asawa catalogue. thank god for amazon cause these are two of the best books i've bought in years. both are beautifully layed out and the quality is fantastic. well worth the money and the wait...check out lena's blog for some more photos.

h&m is launching a home textiles line (not for the u.s yet). gotta be across the water to catch it. though i haven't been much impressed with them of late, i look forward to seeing what they'll bring.
