sagmeister inc. is a graphic design company in ny. they have a wide range of printed designs but my favorite by far is the work they've done with designer anni kuan for her fashion brochures. it's clever, witty, beautiful to look at and incredibly resourceful. i'm most impressed with the way they managed to create such fantastic product with a tight budget...

i went to the de young a while back to catch the gee's bend and ruth asawa exhibits. the gee's bend catalogue was sold out and for some silly reason i didn't buy the asawa catalogue. thank god for amazon cause these are two of the best books i've bought in years. both are beautifully layed out and the quality is fantastic. well worth the money and the wait...check out lena's blog for some more photos.

h&m is launching a home textiles line (not for the u.s yet). gotta be across the water to catch it. though i haven't been much impressed with them of late, i look forward to seeing what they'll bring.

i don't generally go in for the super-girly pink look, but this article in the feb. issue of martha stewart is so gorgeous and such a beautiful way to play with lace.

oh man, one more for the end of the day. val britton's art takes my breath away. i can't post enough images of her work so make sure you visit her site. she also has great detail photos of her pieces...these are stunning. and i love that she has a glossary to explain the different techniques and mediums she uses.

wow...beautiful drawings by hilary pecis.

hands down, one of my favorite magazines is gourmet. great recipes, great stories and beautiful photography for both food and home inspiration. my favorite photo from the january 07 italian regional cooking issue:

great paper from the neighborhood junk store. the brown paper is a set of paper pyjamas (i just cut them up) while the red is a big narrow strip of lacy prettiness.

i was lucky enough to have a few spare minutes in between errands yesterday so i stopped by the japan center to visit the bookstore. i bought this amazing book a few months back and picked up this one yesterday.

while browsing for more info online i stumbled on
this incredible link (via abigail) for downloading wallpaper from Mina Perhonen's 2006 collection. too beautiful...

oh, and my heath ceramics mugs from the goodwill!

some newly acquired treasures from the past few weeks:
- pepin press books! these are amazing. i want all of them, but am holding out for the sake of my budget...right now i have these 2.
- 3 beautiful
heath ceramics mugs (pictures to come) found at the goodwill for a ridiculous steal
- these 2 crazy books in german (which i'm learning slowly, but nowhere near novel-reading level yet...):

and finally, does anyone have any idea what type of plant this could be? it had the most amazing red branches...i might just cave in and get this book. not really a decent photo (eep) but it was dusk at the getty and i wasn't really prepared.

and thanks (and congratulations) to kelly for the mention on her blog!

crazy past year and a crazier new one. it's back to work with extreme amounts of busy-ness. no time for eye candy right now. hopefully some catch up over the weekend. for now, just some beautiful sights and textures from wonderful days in vacation land.
